Preacher ist eine US-amerikanische Fernsehserie, die auf dem Sender AMC am 22. Mai 2016 anlief. Die Serie basiert auf dem gleichnamigen DC/Vertigo Comic des Autors Garth Ennis. Die Erste Staffel wurde am 16. November 2013 angekündigt und umfasst zehn Folgen. Als Autoren der Serie fungieren Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg und Sam Catlin. Letzterer wird auch den Showrunnerposten übernehmen. In der Hauptrolle des Jesse Custer ist Dominic Cooper zu sehen. Sein Engagement wurde im April 2015 bestätigt. Weitere Hauptrollen übernehmen Ruth Negga, Joe Gilgun und Lucy Griffiths.
Am 29. Oktober 2018 wurde die Serie um eine vierte Staffel verlängert.
Handlung
Jesse Custer, ein Prediger aus der kleinen Ortschaft Anville in Texas, wird von einem mysteriösem Wesen besessen, welches ihm gottgleiche Kräfte verleiht. Bei Anwendung der Fähigkeiten gehorchen ihm die Betroffenen augenblicklich, ohne großen Widerstand leisten zu können.
